Detectives burst online fraudster in Nairobi

Detective have nabbed a 45 year old who has been parading as an online dealer in electronic devices including mobile phones and laptops.

Anthony Njenga Wanjiku runs a facebook page that purports to sell the devices to unsuspecting members of the public but are blocked immediately after they are paid for.

Detectives who were acting after recieving tip offs from the public recovered three mobile phones, 32 sim cards registered under different ID numbers during the raid in his house in Nairobi’s Highridge estate.

Elswhere detectives have recovered mobile phones worth Sh120 million believed to have been stolen  while on transit from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after when they raided Muimara Estate court in Imara Daima where 629 cartons containing the phones were recovered.

Detectives say that the items are believed to have been stolen on April 10 while on transit from African Cargo at JKIA to Rolling Cargo Ltd warehouse in Eastleigh.

“The said cargo parked in 750 cartons was being ferried on an Isuzu FRR lorry Reg. No. KBZ 628X driven by 40-yr-old Daniel Kavuti. The lorry was diverted from the designated route only to be found abandoned along Masai Road while empty,” DCI said.

Four suspects who were arrested by the joint team from Nairobi Area and BuruBuru led the police to the house where the items were hidden.

Mwangangi Kyalo, 41 Jacob Waithaka (39), Patrick Irungu (45) and Newton Mwenda (35) are now in police custody as detectives continue to search for the rest of the cartons but the driver of the lorry remains at large but has been advised to surrender before he is cornered by the detectives.
