DP Ruto set to address Kenyans during 58th Madaraka Day Celebrations in Kisumu County – Kenyan_Report

Deputy President William Ruto is expected to address Kenyans during the Country’s 58^th Madaraka Day Celebrations set to be held at Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu County.

According to the Madaraka Day’s programme, DP Ruto is expected to arrive at the venue at 10:45 am, a few minutes after the Chief Defence Forces Robert Kibochi, Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Justice Martha Koome and other Senior Government Officials.

Thereafter President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta would arrive to lead Kenyans for the Madaraka Day Celebrations.

The order of events revealed that only three Kenyan leaders would make their speeches. These include; Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Deputy President Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Burundian president Evariste Ndayishimiye will be among the few guests attending Madaraka Day celebrations.

Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o had on Thursday, May 27, 2021 announced that only 3,000 guests had been invited to physically attend the event set to be held in Kisumu County.

“The capacity of the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium is 30,000. We have invited 3,000 which is 10% of the entire capacity,” Nyongo said.

“These invited people will come with their cards and their seats are designated with proper social distancing,” he added.

President Uhuru and his deputy Ruto have had a cold relationship since the famous March, 2018 handshake he held with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

The deputy president has been missing in action in
several government events with the latest being the launch of the Lamu Port.

However, Ruto had attended the National Prayer Breakfast at Parliament Buildings on Thursday, May 27, 2021 and shared the same table with President Uhuru.

The second in command had confessed that he has been humiliated by the Jubilee government.

“Very many deputy presidents are fought. That is unfortunate. Given an opportunity, I will not allow my DP to be humiliated the way former DPs have been humiliated and the way I have been humiliated,” Ruto stated.
