Drama as Nakuru man smiles at Magistrate as he pleads guilty to defiling his 6-year-old sister

A man from Kuresoi South in Nakuru County stunned the court on Tuesday when he appeared elated after he was sentenced for defilement.

Mr Wesley Langat, a resident of Bararget Village, reportedly smiled at the Magistrate after he was sentenced to life in prison, K24 TV reports.

The middle-aged man defiled his 6-year-old biological sister on September 21, 2019. He appeared before Molo Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Soita and pleaded guilty to repeatedly defiling the minor.

The accused also pleaded guilty to touching the girl’s private parts indecently.

The Magistrate cautioned Langat that his admission to the offences would result in him being imprisoned for life, but Langat maintained that he was sure he had committed the offences.

The court heard that Langat’s neighbour spotted the girl walking abnormally while playing with her age-mates on September 21. Upon interrogation, she disclosed that her brother had sexually abused her.

The neighbor reported the matter to the police leading to the suspect’s arrest. Langat was charged and sentenced on the same day, Tuesday, September 24.
