Detectives in Homa Bay are probing are a break-in incident at the house of a Cuban doctor located within the county health department headquarters.
Dr Blanco Torres Marleni, a general physician, said she was in her bedroom when she heard people breaking in at around 2 am on Wednesday.
She told the police that the burglars took their sweet time as they prepared a meal and ate it before leaving with some valuables. Ms Torres said she feared for her life and did not raise the alarm, only waiting quietly in horror until the thugs had left.
“They cooked food which was in the refrigerator and ate in the kitchen before they disappeared,” she reported.
The unknown number of thugs stole a TV set, music system, microwave, blenders and other kitchenware of unknown value.
Homa Bay County police commander Esther Seroney said a team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was sent to investigate the burglary.
Two police officers who were assigned to guard the doctor’s house will be questioned, Seroney said.
