EU: Chebukati managed 100% score in August 9 polls

The European Union (EU ) has lauded the outgoing chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati and Kenyans for conducting credible elections in August 9, 2022.

EU ambassador to Kenya Henriette Geiger hailed Mr. Chebukati for upholding transparency and integrity while presiding over the 2022 general elections and Kenyans for the manner in which they conducted themselves during polls.

“Kenyan citizens deserve 10 out of 10 for their stellar performance in elections. I want to thank Kenyans for their commitment to peace, which is the way forward to an advanced democracy.” Geiger said

The ambassador spoke at Safari Park Hotel on Monday during the launch of IEBC’s post-election evaluation report for the August 9, 2022 poll.

Geiger further urged IEBC to build on the achievements of the last election to make 2027 polls even better as she promised that EU will always support and stand firmly by the commission.

She congratulated IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye for “an outstanding job done which did a great service to Kenyans for being the first commissioners to finish the full constitutional term of six years.

Chebukati, Boya Moyu and Prof. Abdi Guliye are set to retire on January 17, 2023 (tomorrow) having served a non renewable term of six years at the IEBC.
