Three KCSE candidates who were expelled from Moi Girls’ High School in Eldoret, and consequently forced to put up in commercial accommodation facilities throughout the exam period, have been readmitted to the school.
The three students all aged seventeen years were facing disciplinary action.
Uasin Gishu County Director of Education, Gitonga Mbaka, intervened and ordered that the girls, who were staying in lodgings in Eldoret, be readmitted to the learning centre so that they can sit the national test uninterrupted.
An interview with K24 revealed that one of the teenagers was allegedly forced out for bullying a prefect, the other allegedly had bhang in school, and the third was reportedly found in possession of a kitchen knife in school.
The girls’ parents, however, claimed the school did not follow due procedure in expelling their daughters.
“Our girls are now forced to put up in lodgings throughout the one-month exam period,” one of the parents told K24 on Tuesday, November 5.
“We now fear that, given the conditions our daughters are studying under, they will, most likely, perform poorly. Honestly, they are traumatised and humiliated,” said another parent.
In Nairobi, police on Wednesday arrested 26 students in Nairobi over suspected cheating in the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
