The China Southern Airlines is still flying to Kenya through Bangkok, Tanzania and Uganda according to information from flight tracking website flightstats.
On Friday last week, the Chinese Embassy in Nairobi announced the suspension of the airline over low passenger volume. However, kenyanbulletin.com can confirm that it was due to pressure from the Kenyan public who are afraid of the spread of coronavirus which has killed more that 3000 Chinese nationals in Hubei Province.
“On Feb 28th 2020, Due to the decreasing volume of passenger flow, China Southern Airlines has made necessary adjustments by suspending flights connecting Guangzhou, Changsha and Nairobi until further notice”, the embassy stated.
However, since that day, data from flightstats shows the airline is still landing in Kenya.
The CS for Ministry of Health Mutahi Kagwe today mocked Kenyans by taunting coronavirus stating that the country with 100 bed isolation capacity and zero money at the MoH (it’s been stolen) is prepared for the deadly disease.
The government of Kenya recently banned flights from Northern Italy after the virus spread quickly in that country.
But Kenyans have questioned the rationality of the move, when someome can just travel from North Italy by bus or local airline and then board a flight to Kenya.
