Five cops arrested in Kisumu for stealing cheap liqour

Five police officers have been held in custody after they were arrested for stealing cheap liqour. Boya police station OCS chief inspector William Cheruiyot and four other officers identified as Jane Chepkemei (CP No. 83816), Bernard Macharia ( PC No.110581), Samuel Maina ( PC No.119196), and Rodrick Laushuset (PC No. 59664) were arrested on Monday.

They allegedly stole stole White pearl vodka spirits from a lorry a truck that was involved in a non injury accident. The cops stole the from the accident scene instead of guarding the consignment.

While confirming the arrest, Nyanza Regional Police Commander Noah Mwavinda said the officers who are now suspect and will be put in custody as investigations continue before they are arraigned in court.

“The officers will be charged with stealing. They also face interdiction if found guilty.” Mwavinda said.

OCS Cheruiyot was found with 72 bottles of the cheap spirit in his house.

The case is booked at Ahero police station in Nyando Sub-county via OB3/10/08/2020 and 41/10/2020 but documents from DCI Nyando show that the OCS was detained at Kisumu Central Police Station.
