Former CS Kiunjuri ready to unveil a new political party

A new political party associated with the Ex- Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has been registered and is now ready to begin rolling out its programmes ahead of 2022 general elections.

The Service Party (TSP) was given a certificate of registration after it met all the requirements, acting registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu told the press.

“The party has been fully registered after rigorous process that has taken them 14 months,” Nderitu said.

By tuesday evening it looked all set and ready to be unveiled anytime.

The unveiling of Kiunjuri’s party is an indicator that the former Agriculture CS who was fired by President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to make a comeback in politics.

Kiunjuri was kicked out in what marked Uhuru’s continued purge targeting politicians allied to the Deputy President William Ruto.

TSP is the new kid on the block from Uhuru’s Mt. Kenya region as leaders align themselves for the 2022 elections. With no end in sight to the continued bickering in JP, Kiunjuri is looking for a working formula to control the Central region or part of it through the new party.

Kiunjuri wants to pull off a master stroke in attracting Mt Kenya’s support as the region remains desperate for a kingpin when Uhuru exits the stage in 2022.

Kiunjuri has not made it clear whether he will be running for Laikipia governor or he is still keen on being Ruto’s running mate.

The former law maker had intentions of running for Laikipia governor in 2017 but President Kenyatta prevailed over him to hold that ambition.

TSP was registered by a group of youths under the chairmanship of Kariuki Munyoroku. The new party was issued withan interim certificate in January as it plots to benefit from the collapse of Jubilee.

Many parties have been registerd by Mt Kenya politicians including the Civic Renewal Party (CRP) of Mwangi wa Iria and Transformation National Alliance Party (TNAP) associated with Moses Kuria whose registration has stalled.

TSP appears to be one of the several alternative parties that DP Ruto after the president’s purge has narrowed his chances of clinching the JP ticket.
