Former KPA Boss Manduku bagged by police

Former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Daniel Manduku has been arrested, hours after the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji issued orders for his arrest.

Manduku abused his office by approving questionable procurement deals at the Inland Container Depot, Kilindini Port and Makongeni Goods shed without an approved budget and procurement plan for the financial year 2018/19.

He also made an overpayment  of overpayment of Sh244, 837,908 to contractors who had not completed their work.

A statement by DPP Haji said that they have enough evidence to charge Manduku and KPA works officer Juma Chigulu.

“I have independently reviewed the evidence gathered and upon perusal of the inquiry I established that there was no requisition made for concrete barriers by the user department within KPA,” Haji stated.

DPP also established that Manduku handpicked the ten companies that were awarded tenders contracts.
