Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed not to forgive Opposition leader Raila Odinga for taking former president Uhuru Kenyatta on a protest rally a fortnight ago.
Rigathi, who said he had forgiven Raila for holding protests, disputing Kenya Kwanza’s win and for what he termed as ‘ruining Kibaki and Uhuru’s government’, vowed he could not forgive him for taking Uhuru to the rally.
Speaking yesterday in a church service, Rigathi insinuated that Raila demeaned the former president’s stature by having him on top of a lorry to protest the current government’s win.
“But we cannot forgive him for what he did recently. He took our former president Uhuru whom we loved and respected. He took him out of retirement and took him on top of a lorry. He has really wronged us for doing that.
Uhuru may have humiliated us, but he remained our leader. I am actually afraid that Raila will make him start hurling stones,” he said.
The second in command was speaking in reference to the February 11, 2023, rally that Uhuru accompanied Raila.
This is of course contrary to what former president Uhuru thinks and the actions he’s been taking.
In Luanda, Vihiga, Uhuru said his support for Raila was still intact and that despite his retirement, he still got the vigor to hit the ground at the invitation of the former prime minister.
“Even though I have retired from politics, I’m still a follower of Raila. If he asks me we go we have to do it. I supported him and I will continue doing so because I believe he is truthful,” said Uhuru.
