Gor Mahia intensify preparations ahead of league resumption – KBC

Kenya Premier league record champions Gor Mahia have intensified their preparations ahead of the resumption of FKF Premier league kick off set for Wednesday this week.

According to the club assistant captain Philomen Otieno, the progress of the team in training has been impressive despite lack of sufficient fitness lost after suspension of Sports in Kenya.

“Preparation has been good since we resumed training. Before the break, we were determined to continue working hard but all is not lost, we are on again and working to get regain our fitness to win matches” he noted.

The Football Kenya Federation has released a revised fixture list for the FKF Premier League which is set to resume on May 12.

The top-flight was halted in March after President Uhuru Kenyatta suspended all sporting activities owing to a spike in the numbers of positive Covid-19 tests in the country.

However earlier this month, Kenyatta lifted the ban on sporting activities but ordered they return under strict adherence to Covid-19 measures as per the guidelines issued by the Ministries of Health and Sports.

K’Ogalo will entertain local moneybags Wazito FC on Wednesday 12 May 2021 at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

In another development, Kenya risks failing to have representatives in next season’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup due to the delay in the resumption of the FKF-Premier League.

The development comes barely five days after the continental football body CAF set June 30 as the deadline of submitting clubs’ names by member associations.

The Ministry of Sports in conjunction with their Health counterparts will tomorrow issue guidelines that will guide the resumption of sporting activities in the country.
