Detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission yesterday Wednesday 19, May 2021 raided Nyandarua governor Francis Kimemia’s County offices in Ol Kalau.

Reports further indicate that the sleuths also raided the home of the governor’s secretary and the Roads CEC – Mary Mugwanja.

Information privy to the raid say that the detectives are probing the embezzlement of Ksh55 million resulting from a complaint earlier filed at the agency.

Speaking to the Standard, the anti-graft agency central region manager Charles Rasugu, noted that the raid was focusing mainly at Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia’s office, with some evidences already collected to help in the case.

“They took some documents from the governor’s secretary and the finance office to help us crack the case that emanated from the tender issued in 2019,” Rasungu told the Standard.

Rusugu added that no official from the County had so far been arrested, with the tender at the center of investigation reportedly linked to the son of a senior government official.

The raid comes just a day after the Jubilee candidate lost to Deputy President William Ruto linked UDA candidate in the Nyandarua’s Rurii ward race.

A number of leaders and the locals blame the loss on the former secretary to the cabinet after being chosen to lead the area campaigns.

Reports indicate that Francis Muraya’s win over Jubilee’s Peter Thinji in the mini poll was as a result of a protest vote by the electorate after Kimemia took over the campaign lead in the by-election.

The losses in the recent by-elections got the President angry to an extent of sending away government officials and Jubilee leaders who went to State House to explain losses.

The Standard earlier today indicated the Uhuru was yesterday angered by his advisers for the three losses especially after losing to the vocal Gatundu MP Moses Kuria’s candidate in Juja.

Kuria’s candidate George Koimburi was yesterday declared the new Juja legislator after white washing Jubilee’s Susan Njeri Waititu on the People’s Empowerment Party (PEP).

“He chased everyone away at State House. He ordered them to leave and go home as they had not provided enough explanation as to why they lost the by-elections.
“The President argued that the officials should have done enough research and homework before pushing Jubilee to contest in the elections,” one source narrated to the daily.

He was on the record blaming Jubilee party secretary general Raphael Tuju, David Murathe and his advisors fr the tripple loss.

“He was unhappy and blamed Murathe, Tuju, his advisers and government administrators for the loss, telling them that he never wanted to see them in the next coming days.

“The President couldn’t understand why Murathe and Tuju kept claiming that they were rigged out yet the election was done publicly, same as the vote tallying,” sources alleged adding that Uhuru was angered by the police brutality witnessed at the elections.
