Hassan Joho’s Unfair Dominance In Billboard Business Sparks Jitters

Former Governor Ali Hassan Joho is facing accusations of playing dirty to eliminate his competitors in the county’s advertising industry.

A source privy to the matter has intimated to this blog that the ODM loudmouth has successfully taken over the lucrative billboard business in Mombasa through a proxy company known on paper as “Lookon Limited”.

Writing to us on Monday, December 26, 2022, the insider also alleged until Joho’s last days in office, the billboard firm was conspicuously exempt from remitting requisite fees to the local government.

This grave injustice is reportedly being continued by Governor Shariff Nassir’s new administration.

This allows him to rake in up to Sh5m every month from billboards and street poles.

With such unfair privileges granted to the company, its competitors can barely survive.

He has effectively bullied them out of the game and rendered hundreds jobless in Mombasa by turning it into a no-go zone for investors in the advertising industry.

“The Joho regime demolished billboards in 2013-2022, so he can get space and erect them within Mombasa County.

In 2022, all the billboards erected on the Bridge, Links Road, all the way to Kizingo, grey in colour, are all Joho’s.

He killed outlook media, magnate ventures and even the late Hatimy’s, so he can use a proxy by the name of Lookon Ltd, which doesn’t pay any fees.

How fair is doing business in Mombasa?

Despite him gone and killing our city, still making Sh4-5m monthly from billboards and street poles,” the source informed us under the request of anonymity.
