How George Wainaina is using KANU to sanitize corrupt political associates

With Kanu Chairman Gideon Moi busy revitalizing the independence party to boost his bargaining base ahead of 2022 elections, top officials are using the exercise to rope in corrupt politicians who are desperate to protect themselves from investigations.

The recently appointed party executive director George Wainaina (Gewa) who worked as chief of staff during Evans Kidero’s reign as the governor of Nairobi is the man behind current trooping of corrupt guys to the KANU Party.

He has led a team of crooks who oversaw looting at the city hall to Kanu headquarters for ‘sanitization’ including one John Osogo who was Kidero’s personal assistant.

Wainaina and another team led by political rejects as Nick Salat and Mohamed Bafadhili are capitalizing on Gideon’s closeness to President Uhuru Kenyatta to protect their corrupt colleagues from being probed by luring them to join Kanu.

Already Wainaina has brought in former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu with Kidero also rumored to be headed to the independence party as he prepares to run for Homa Bay gubernatorial race in 2022.

Both Kidero and Waititu are facing serious economic in court and also under investigations by the anti-graft authorities but Wainaina has promised his corrupt that his ‘closeness’ with Moi will see the cases terminated.

This comes at the time when Kanu is planning to sell its assets in a bid to raise some Sh1.3 billion ahead of 2022 campaigns. The team from city hall will steal the proceeds behind Senator Moi’s back.

Wainaina has revealed to his associates that the party has property worth over SH1.3 billions idling and being misused across the country.

The recent sale of Kanu’s properties in Kiambu saw the party lose its assets through frauds and shoddy dealings by corrupt officials.

Wainana and former executive director Joseph Towett were behind the deal where Gideon’s signature was faked to sanction the sale of two prime properties valued at over Sh100 million.

Last year the tainted director was in arraigned in court for plotting to defraud city hall Sh58 million through a dubious legal fees.

The presence of Wainaina in Kanu’s top leadership is said to be keeping away Mt. Kenya tycoons who want to back Moi’s bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta since there are fears that he will loot campaign funds.

Wainaina has also brought back one Chelanga who was kicked out of the party by Gideon for his involvement in the Kiambu fraud.
