How ODM is confusing voters in the selection exercise in Msambweni

Many members of ODM have found their names missing from the voter registration list during the party’s nomination exercise currently underway in  Msambweni.

The presiding officers are using the ODM list that has not been updated since 2017. A section of voters at Jogoo Grounds in Mwamambi polling station were turned back on grounds that they are not from that area.

Some voters who were turned back despite their particulars showing that they belong to those stations claimed the party already has a ‘candidate in mind’.

Their request for the party to use an updated IEBC list was also thwarted in the process that was to kick at  6:00 am but delayed until 10am in all the 60 polling stations with some voters’ names already marked in the party register.

Voting materials were also arrived late in what the locals complained was an attempt to deny them their constitutional rights. There is no transparency in the ODM party nominations in Msambweni.

ODM organizing Secretary Shaban Luchesi confirmed that many voters felt wasted and turned back without voting adding the inconveniences were planned to discourage voters who are not party members.

Nicholas Zani and Omar Boga are fighting for the ODM ticket to go for the parliamentary seat that fell vacant after the death of Hon. Suleiman Dori in March.

Boga also complained that the exercise was marred of irregularities and hitches as he urged respective authorities to consider their plight.

But Confident Zani called on the locals to be patient as the exercise proceeds.

He is an odm insider who expressed opposition to electronic voting in pretense that still involve physical contact that is discouraged due to covid-19 spread.

“We also still remember our experience with ‘vifaranga vya kompyuta’, he told a local blog in reference to Raila Odinga’s complains in 2017 that many Jubilee leaders were rigged in.
