How Suffering Made Moi Family Order ICU Machines Switched Off

Pain and Suffering may have prompted the Moi Family to seek mercy killing, Kenyan Bulletin can confirm.

Mercy Killing is also referred to as Euthanasia or Assisted Suicide.

Medical sources define euthanasia as the act of bringing about the death of a hopelessly ill and suffering person in a relatively quick and painless way for reasons of mercy.

Voluntary euthanasia is euthanasia that is provided for a competent person with his informed consent. Involuntary euthanasia is euthanasia performed without a person’s consent.

President Moi has been in ICU for many days.

Moi was hurriedly returned to the hospital, a few days after leaving the hospital. During Moi’s initial admission to the hospital, he was treated for pleural effusion, a medical condition where excess fluids accumulate around the lung areas.

In Mid January, Doctors at the Nairobi Hospital were forced to put former President Daniel Moi back on life support machines. Sources confirmed that no sooner had the machines been put off than Moi’s condition worsened. He has been on complete life support system at the hospital’s intensive care unit. The machines helped him breathe and clean up his kidneys, according to the Star Newspaper

Moi family, doctors at Nairobi hospital allowed ICU machines switched off to pave way for the peaceful death of retired President Daniel Moi.

For months, while at Nairobi hospital, Moi was clinically dead and was surviving on machines to allow the family to come to terms with the saddening development.

A team of doctors spent gruelling hours counselling the family led by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to avoid trauma prior to the switching off of the machines.

In Kalenjin, the timing of the death was considered a blessing as it was traditionally the case when a senior person from the community passes on in the wee hours of the morning.

During his previous visits to the same facility, Moi had reportedly pleaded with the family to allow him meet his death at Kabarak home.
