Kenyans will soon be able to access pension and retirement-related services directly at Huduma Centres across the country, following a new government initiative aimed at decentralising key public services.

Huduma Kenya announced on Monday, June 29, that it is working with the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) to expand services offered at selected Huduma Centres, allowing citizens to receive guidance on retirement planning, pension contributions, and access to retirement benefits without visiting central government offices.
Under the new programme, Huduma Centre staff are currently undergoing specialised training to equip them with the skills needed to handle retirement-related inquiries. The training will enable frontline officers to offer basic advisory services and guide clients through the retirement benefits system.
Huduma Kenya stated that, “Kenyans will soon access retirement and pension services closer to home, following new training for Huduma Centre staff,” adding that the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the RBA to improve service delivery nationwide.
Currently, citizens can only check the status of pension applications at Huduma Centres, while more advanced services such as applying for or receiving pension benefits are handled at the Retirement Benefits Authority offices or the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) offices in Nairobi.
Once fully rolled out, the new system will allow more services to be accessed locally, reducing the need for long-distance travel and easing congestion at central offices. The initiative is expected to improve efficiency while also encouraging better retirement financial planning among Kenyans.
The expansion is part of a broader government effort to decentralise public services through Huduma Centres, with a long-term goal of extending coverage to all 290 constituencies across the country.
By bringing services closer to citizens, the programme is expected to cut travel time, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and improve access to essential national and county services at the grassroots level.
