Slain National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) worker, Lilian Waithera’s husband Paul Mbogo has finally broken his silence.

Mbogo is yet to come to terms with the sudden death of his wife who died on Monday, February 13.

Weighing in on the tragic incident, he wondered whose path his wife might have crossed to warrant her shooting, saying she was a happy soul and had no known enemies.

“This incident has caught us in great shock. She was in no wrangles with no one. She was a happy soul at her station of work. There is no reason that can be used to justify this. There was no one trailing her,” said Mbogo.

On the fateful day, the 46-year-old was walking home from work in Upper Hill when she collapsed and died on Kaunda Street.

Witnesses and police said Waithera complained of chest pain before she collapsed at about 5 pm.

Her colleagues called an ambulance but the responders declared her dead at the scene.

Her body was taken to the Nairobi Hospital Mortuary.

A bullet was later discovered inside her lungs after an autopsy was conducted on her body to establish the cause of her death.

The pathologist established that she was shot.

“The pathologist formed the opinion that the cause of death was as a result of a gunshot wound. A bullet head was found lodged in the lungs of the deceased,” reads the police report under OB number 187/13/2023 at Central Police Station.
