Sources close to Tanga Tanga summit have revealed to KB that the deputy president William Ruto is now considering a running mate outside Mt Kenya region. Rumours have been a rife that the self proclaimed ‘hustler’ would have his running from mount kenya in his 2022 presidential bid but his team seems to be changing tact.
Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has been thought as a possible running mate but latest developments from the DP’s inner circle indicate that he is working around something similar to their 2007 pentagon crafting in ODM. Waiguru has since made mixed reactions towards 2022 campaigns, she has indicated possibility of working with the ODM Leader Raila Odinga and just over the last weekend she was reported saying that Kenya is not ready for another Kikuyu president.
In exploration for alternative options, KB can authoritatively reveal that DP’s allies are now pushing for a pact with the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi. In the pentagon arrangement, Mudavadi was Raila’s running mate in 2007.
In 2013, Ruto dismissed Mudavadi’s candidature as that of a small party heading nowhere but the two were in President Uhuru’s team in 2002 with Mudavadi as the running. Ruto was the chief campaigner in Rift Valley. Possible of working again cannot be dismissed, politics has no permanent friends or enemies.
