People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) leader Moses Kuria has revealed how Deputy President William Ruto helped his party win the Juja Parliamentary seat.
The Gatundu South Member of Parliament has disclosed that he received financial support from DP Ruto during the May 18, 2021 Juja by-election.
Speaking during an interview on KTN News on Thursday, May 27, 2021, the vocal Tanga Tanga lawmaker said that they are friends with Ruto and therefore they help each other during their times of need.
“Yes, I received tremendous support from the
deputy president not necessarily just financial but also politically…Yes, I
did receive financial support from the DP for the Juja by-election. He is my
friend, sometimes he also goes broke and I give him money, what is wrong with
that?” Kuria posed.
George Koimburi, who ran on the Moses Kuria’s People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) emerged victorious beating 10 other candidates to clinch the seat with 12,159 votes.
President Uhuru’s Jubilee Party candidate Susan Njeri Waititu came in second with 5,746 votes.
The third place went to independent candidate Joseph Gichui who managed 1,356 votes
The chaotic Juja mini poll was hotly contested by both Moses Kuria and President Uhuru both of whom comes from same County (Kiambu).
Moments after Koimburi was declared the winner by the IEBC, Ruto celebrated and praised his team for a job well done.
“We thank God for Hustler nation victory in Juja & Rurii and the awesome show in Bonchari. A big congratulations to all our hustler teams for a sterling performance against all odds. Well done our competitors, let’s keep it issue-based and pull together. Let’s revive the economy and the Big Four Agenda,” Ruto tweeted.
The Juja parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Francis Waititu popularly known as ‘Wakapee’ in February after a long illness.
