On Saturday, Vihiga MP Ernest Kagesi attended an event organized by the Azimio La Umoja movement at Esiandumba grounds. Kagesi’s presence raised eyebrows, prompting him to clarify that he was there because of his blood relations with the host MP, Dick Maungu.
Kagesi explained that Maungu is his cousin, and his mother comes from Vihiga, where Kagesi hails from.
Honorable Dick Maungu is my cousin, his mother comes from Vihiga where I come from, so I came in to attend his homecoming event as a cousin,” Kagesi said.
During the event, Kagesi was handed the microphone and took the opportunity to address issues affecting his constituents. He noted that he had been given the mandate to report back to the government on the problems raised by the leaders present at the function.
The Azimio leaders, led by Raila Odinga, also used the occasion to criticize the Kenya Kwanza administration over the high cost of living. The leaders accused the government of failing to address the issue, which they said was causing hardship to many Kenyans. They called on the government to take urgent action to reduce the cost of living.
During the event, Kagesi was given the mandate to report back to the government on issues affecting his constituents, including the high cost of living and problems with the CBC curriculum.
