Italian national quarantined in Lamu

An Italian national has been quarantine in a medical facility in Lamu County where he had sought treatment.

The Italian man is confirmed to have recently travelled to Italy which is currently under total lockdown with over 41,000 confirmed infections and close to 3,500 deaths from the disease.

Lamu County commissioner Irungu Macharia confirmed the incident adding that the Italian took himself to the medical facility complaining of fever.

One of the major symptoms of coronavirus infection is a high fever this is why the government has set up screening centres at all points of entry in the country to help detect possible infectees.

So far, the seven confirmed cases of the virus in Kenya have been of individuals who travelled out of the country and returned infected.
