Jambojet boss Allan Kilavuka named the new Kenya Airways acting CEO

Kenya Airways Board has named Allan Kilavuka as the new acting CEO.

The national carrier stated that Mr Kilavuka will be acting CEO until a substantive boss is recruited.

Mr Kilavuka will still continue to serve as Jambojet’s CEO.

In May, Sebastian Mikosz announced that he would be leaving his position as KQ’s CEO by the end of this year.

Mr Mikosz said the decision was a personal one, in a move that was seen to potentially destabilizing development for the national flag carrier.

“I have made the decision to shorten my contract term and I have decided to resign on personal grounds effective December the 31st of this year,” said Mikosz.

While Mikosz still insists that his decision to quit was due to personal reasons, he hinted that the issue of politics getting in the way of his running the airline might have informed his decision.

Speaking to a local daily on his decision to step aside, Mikosz admitted to facing tough challenges and opposition in his job.

“I was hired to restructure the airline but ended up showing that the airline cannot be restructured if we do not change the environment,” Mikosz stated.

“Then, of course, you will find people who have made the company toxic when they start attacking you and not your decisions. Maybe I should have been tougher, but I believe I was tough,” he added
