Yesternight, Police launched an investigation into the alleged murder of a 33-year-old JKIA attached Engineer by his girlfriend at his Umoja house in Nairobi.
A bodyguard attached to the IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati reported the incidence to the Police last night.
According to the bodyguard’s Stephen Orad statement, his neighbour, Edward Okello, was stabbed in the chest by his girlfriend on Sunday at about 8.30 pm.
The girlfriend was identified as a Taita named
Vigilance Shighi aged 29 years. She stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
Before his unfortunate death, the victim was an engineer at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. He was rushed to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“The suspect of the murder who is the girlfriend… was identified by the neighbours and arrested immediately. The team proceeded to the residence at Umoja 2, Zone 8, Plot No. 5961 ground floor and found a pool of blood on the sitting room and a kitchen knife was recovered,” said the police report.
In their report, police noted that the murder incident was as a result of a disagreement between themselves (couple).
The victim’s body was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary.
The cases of men being skinned alive, stubbed to death and even worse, burnt alive have increased lately.
Late last month, a DCI officer burnt his husband in Embakasi, Fedha Estate after alleging that he was a community Husband.
A fortnight ago, a man was burnt alive in his car in a another homicide case being investigated in Buruburu.
On Thursday last week, Susan Njeri Wachiuri, 25, was charged of stabbing his boyfriend Kelvin Njenga Ng’ang’a 11 times using a knife.
She was charged with murdering her boyfriend of two years in a squabble over who would wash utensils after supper.
Before Milimani High Court Judge James Wakiaga, the accused denied committing the crime on April 9 at White House within Tena Estate, Umoja, Nairobi.
“I apply to be admitted to bond. Article 49 of the Constitution allows all suspects arraigned [for] any offence to be admitted to bond,” she pleaded.
State prosecutor Wangui Gichuhi asked the court to direct the suspect to file a formal application alongside written submissions for her response.
Justice Wakiaga set the hearing for May 14 through Skype, due to regulations to curb the spread of Covid-19.
