JoblessYouthsLivesMatter: Police Station set on fire over police harassment

The economic collapse cannot even be solved by the new Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Naivasha that promises jobs to the many jobless youths, from a non-performing white elephant project as the SGR.

Naivasha town depends on tourism and flower farming and the Covid-19 pandemic has wiped out over 70 per cent of jobs in Naivasha.

Several police officers this morning escaped an arson attack at their camp in Naivasha.

Harassment by police from the camp

According to the Standard Group, the arsonists, who are protesting police harassment,  first locked from outside the house of the officer in charge before setting a tyre ablaze outside his door.

It took the quick efforts of the Naivasha Sub-county fire department to stop the fire from causing more damage.

The arsonists were targeting the inspector of police in that area. Fortunately, the inspector was not in his house at that moment.

Police say they are investigating the incident and necessary action will be taken if need be.

Naivasha sub-county commissioner Mathioya Mbogo confirmed the incident adding that no one was injured.
