Former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile died cursing Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, a close family member told Weekly Citizen in sheer confidence. On his deathbed, Kalembe said Mutua will never be the president of Kenya, and his marriage life will continue to face tribulations and turmoil. He further said that Mutua’s misuse of county funds will come to haunt him until his death. Mutua’s first marriage landed in court, forcing him to get a new catch. Kalembe in his last words on Mutua said that he will keep on dancing in public like a robot and after 2022 polls, his party Maendeleo Chap Chap will be no more on the political stage. Kalembe further predicted once out of office, the state will investigate Mutua’s massive investments with Assets Recovery Authority moving to reposess what he may have acquired unprocedurally. While addressing the press in his final days in Machakos before his admission to hospital, Kalembe blamed Mutua of misuse of county resources, and for allegedly being bribed to withdraw Maendeleo Chap Chap senatorial candidate, former minister Mutua Katuku, two days to Machakos election.

Kalembe revealed that after Maendeleo Chap Chap withdrew Katuku, all their supporters were ordered not to vote for Wiper party of former vice president Kalonzo Musyoka. At the press conference at his Macha B hotel, Kalembe said: “Mutua carried his own analysis, and found out that he was going to lose, and Katuku would come a distant third in the race, hence he withdrew him from the glaring defeat. Mutua claims Uhuru told him to withdraw his candidate which was a white lie.” Kalembe further stated that it wasn’t the first time Mutua had cheated Uhuru. He even lied to the president to lead in the ground-breaking ceremony of the construction of the yet-to-be new Machakos city. “Where are those showers that he promised the people of Machakos? He again said that he will replace grass-thatched houses with iron sheets. Where did he do that? He has been using total lies to convince Machakos people so as they vote for him,” a bitter Kalembe struggled to say at the function. Kalembe said Machakos hospitals had no drugs and mystery surrounded the distribution of free masks. Kalembe passed on while being treated at Nairobi Hospital.

Uhuru Kenyatta led the country in mourning the departed politician but surprisingly, Mutua send condolences in what family members say were crocodile tears. “I am deeply sad to learn of the passing of one of Kenya’s top political orators, Hon Kalembe Ndile “Mtoto wa Skwota”. Hon Ndile was a brave voice of the people. A self-made leader. He was a darling to audiences and to us all. A huge loss to our region… Kenya has lost a hero,” Governor Mutua said. At one time, then Nairobi governor Mike Sonko took Mutua head-on when he closed Macha Beach Club and the arrest of the hotel’s staff by Machakos county government officials. Kalembe also dismissed the move by Mutua to close his hotel. Kalembe left those present cracking their ribs when he said, that was expected of Mutua as he chased his wife and children. To Kalembe, the ex-Mutua wife was taken over by a mzungu in Australia. To Kalembe, Mutua’s current wife is a slay queen, only enjoying the governor’s fortunes whose bed powers are suspicious.

Kalembe’s hotel was shut down after the late told Mutua to repair the defaced Tom Mboya and Dedan Kimathi Statues that are in Nairobi’s CBD. “Let him come to Machakos and work, the two years left is a very short period. He had promised to have Makutano-Machakos highway a dual carriage way. I do not know whether that money has been used by the statues. God will judge the leaders. Mutua should work and stop public relations,” the late quipped. By the time of Kalembe’s death, the two had not reconciled. The governor’s estranged wife, Josephine Thitu Maundu, was embroiled in a bitter and ugly fight over children and property. Lilian Ng’ang’a is now county first lady. The Kitui county council of elders (Atumia ma Thome) has sent a condolences message to the family and relatives of the former MP for the Kibwezi constituency in Makueni county. Led by their chairman Boniface Manzi, the committee officials were speaking to the media in Kitui town on Monday, May 31 2021.
Dr Josephine Thitu Maundu
They described the late Ndile as a great Kenyan political hero. “He is our own. We, as the Kamba community, and Kenyans national council of elders chairman, the late Mzee Erastus Phares Rutere who died at the Nairobi Hospital on Wednesday, May 26 2021 at the age of 81 years. Manzi was accompanied by Justus Kangangi, Benedict Muli, Reverend Jackson Kilunda and Bishop Robert Mutemi among other committee officials. The Kitui Urban Jua Kali Artisans Association coordinator Jackson Mutua also sent a condolences message to the late Ndile’s family and relatives. And the Kitui Bunge la Wazalendo community based organisation chairman, Charles Muinde, also joined the rest of Kenyans in mourning the departed leader. Ndile died of liver cirrhosis complications at the Nairobi Hospital on Sunday, May 30 2021 morning aged 57 years. He is The Independent Party (Tip Tip) leader. He served as the Kenya’s Tourism and Wildlife assistant minister under president Mwai Kibaki’s government. Kalembe served as the Kibwezi constituency MP in 2002 to 2007.
