Azimio principal Kalonzo Musyoka has clapped back at President William Ruto over his remarks that his administration will not employ opposition members.

Speaking during a parliamentary meeting in Machakos, the Wiper Party leader stated that the coalition already has enough work to do and is not interested in jobs in the executive.

Kalonzo noted:  “Let it be known to all and sundry that the leaders in Azimio One Kenya Alliance are not interested in any jobs from the executive. As we have demonstrated even this afternoon, we already have a lot of work to do”.

Ruto had earlier stated that his administration was welcoming Azimio leaders to effectively discharge their mandate of keeping his government in check.

“I’m happy to note that our competitors have said they will provide oversight over our government”

“We have accepted that we are not going to appoint any member of the opposition into government because we want a vibrant opposition, an opposition that will keep the government in check,” he stated.

The coalition also raised ‘pertinent’ issues with the new administration.

Among the issues raised are the removal of the Unga subsidy to channel subsidies into production.

They specifically took issue with the directive stating that it was making Kenyans dig deeper while they were already struggling.

“The Ruto administration has started off on the wrong footing, On almost every front, most painful for Kenyans. A government that cannot feed its people has no business being in government,” he added.
