“When it rains, it pours,” so goes the old adage.
On the same day he was stoned by rowdy youth while on his campaign trail in Kisumu, a group of disgruntled Karen residents have now come out to express their displeasure over some of Deputy President William Ruto’s activities in the posh neighbourhood.
In a circulating letter tagged to the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, some of Ruto’s neighbours in the leafy suburb have complained over a myriad of issues, including a worrying rise in cases of disturbance and insecurity, both of which they attribute to his presence in the area.
“We hereby write to notify your office of constant complaints from our members residing along the Karen Road and residents commuting via the same route and the adjacent,” begins the letter.
They claim that ever since DP Ruto began hosting multiple groups of entrouges in his lavish compound, life has become difficult for commuters along Karen Road which is almost always gridlocked with traffic whenever his guests come for visits.
“We wish to notify you of rampant traffic gridlock as a result of visitors parking on the roadsides and wayleaves awaiting clearance to your residence. This has caused unbearable inconvenience to residents commuting along the Karen road and adjoining lanes,” it adds.
This has also led to an increase in cases of muggings which they say are perpetrated by aliens masquendering as visitors of the Deputy President.
“Residents have complained of rising cases of mugging along the route conducted by aliens masquerading as visitors to your residence,” they wrote.
In the letter dated November 9, 2021, the group asks police boss Mutyambai to immediately look into the matter and find ways to restore “peace and tranquility” in the estate.
