The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has extended the road closure for the Nairobi bound traffic at Nyayo Stadium roundabout from Monday 31st of May at 9:00am to Wednesday 2nd 0f June, 2021 at 4:00pm.

In a statement, KeNHA said that the closure is to allow sufficient time for the contractor to complete installation of culverts.

“Motorists are kindly advised to use alternative routes (Aerodrome Road, Baricho Road or Dunga Road),” stated the statement.

The authority has also said that it shall erect appropriate directional signs for effective traffic flow.

“KeNHA apologises for any inconveniences that may be caused at the authority endeavors to provide an efficient, safe and reliable road network,” said the authority.

The authority has also encouraged all motorists and pedestrians to observe safety measures implemented at the construction site.

Earlier, the authority has said that it is working closely with traffic police to manage traffic disruption on the A8 road from Mlolongo to James Guchuru.

In a statement, KeNHA noted that the ongoing rains have created further constrictions as the relocation works in some instances have interfered with the existing side drainage leading to blockage.

“The ongoing rains have interfered with the existing side drainage causing ponding of water along certain locations on the road, further constricting the trafficked lane closure that were programmed,” read part of the statement.

According to KeNHA, they have initiated improvement works at locations such as Nyayo Stadium roundabout to ensure the drainage remains free flowing at all affected locations.
