The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has completed the 1.1-kilometre road linking upper hill to Mbagathi way.
“Public Announcement: The dualing of 1.1 Km Upper Hill – Mbagathi Link Road is now open for Traffic and Pedestrian use. We thank the Public for the patience and cooperation during the Construction Period”, KURA wrote on their social media pages.
However, the roads agency was criticised for its love of shoddily done works which doesn’t take into consideration the pedestrians.
KURA’s new road lacks pavement for pedestrian walks.
Immediately Kenyans started asking questions:
On Twitter, Old Major (@Ndindiko) asked, “Where the fuck are the pedestrian walks? Or we skywalk over the invisible pavements??”.
This is not the first time KURA is being accused of doing shoddy work.
The many cases of procurement malpractice, shoddy works, shady contracts and looting of KURA has not even moved Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) to act. Many sources say that the acting DG Silas Kinoti had pocketed EACC officials.
During Silas Kinoti’s reign, the authority has been accused of giving tenders to cronies, then advertising it for formalities, in one open incident, a Chinese firm was found to be carrying out works yet the tender evaluation was still ‘ongoing’.
Yes where's the pedestrians 🚶♂️🚶♂️ walk ways. Why do Kenya government work this way, effing ridiculous

Nice efforts 👌, but who designs for KURA?
Why is NMT provision a gamble?
Is this another fault which will be subjected to Physical Planners?
