Kenya Airways have been informed by the London Police of a dead stowaway who was on a London flight from Nairobi.The Metropolitan Police says the male body fell off the plane’s landing gear moments before it landed in London’s Heathrow Airport.
Kenya Airways said in a statement the body fell off one of its planes on July 30th at approximately 1541hrs UK time.
”On June 30th at approximately 1541hrs (UK time) a body of a yet to be unidentified male stowaway landed in a garden in the Borough of Lambeth, South London suggesting the stowaway was hidden in the undercarriage of the aircraft,” read the statement in part.
Kenya Airways says the owner of the the garden then called the police who then tracked the flight radar to KQ flight 100.
The Metropolitan police then headed to Heathrow airport where they inspected the aircraft and found some clothing at the rear left landing gear.
The distance from Nairobi to London is approximately 6,840 kilometers and takes about 8 hours.
The nation’s courier says the incident has been treated as a case of sudden death and the matter is already with the police.
”The incident has been treated as a sudden death is now a police matter.The police have already been in contact with the Kenya High Commission to help identity and name of the person,” the statement added.
Kenya Airways added that no damage has been reported on the aircraft and has expressed its sincere condolences to the victim’s family.
