Kenyan hackers hack into email of London-based company, purchases bulldozers worth Sh43 million

Detectives from Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) on Saturday impounded excavators worth over 40 million that were illegally imported into the country.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the bulldozers valued at Sh43 million were imported from India by Kenyan fraudsters and were seized in Changamwe, Mombasa County.

DCI further indicated that the equipment was shipped into the country after fraudsters hacked into the email of the automobiles manufacturer’s company, which is based in London, before placing an order for them.

“The shipment was done by JCB International who, upon delivering the goods, contacted the brother company in Kenya for payment. It’s then that they learnt that the company doesn’t deal with such goods,” said DCI in a statement.

One suspect identified as Nobert Njeru was arrested and detained pending arraignment in court on Monday.
