The M-PESA Sokoni Festival kicks off nationwide with big discounts, live events, and SME empowerment forums as part of M-PESA’s 18th anniversary celebrations.

A wave of unbeatable discounts and community-driven activities is sweeping across Kenya as the M-PESA Sokoni Festival launches its national campaign, a vibrant celebration of M-PESA’s 18th anniversary and part of Safaricom’s 25-year milestone.

The festival brings together more than 150 local and national businesses, offering customers access to heavily discounted deals on electronics, mobile devices, home goods, beauty and fashion items, travel offers, and more.

The campaign is designed to reward loyal users and empower local entrepreneurs through exposure, networking, and sales opportunities.

“M-PESA Sokoni is not just a shopping event. It’s a lifestyle experience for the whole family,” said Dr. Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC.

“It combines entertainment, meaningful conversations, and economic empowerment, all under one roof.”

The festivities begin in Mombasa, with a full week of activities.

These include Safire Connect, a vibrant knowledge-sharing forum on topics such as personal branding, financial wellness, and community-based opportunities, and Wezesha Mama, a M-PESA Foundation program that equips women groups with digital and financial literacy training, alongside access to seed capital for their businesses.

The week also features the M-PESA Agents Awards, recognizing top-performing agent outlets for their contribution to financial inclusion, as well as Grow with Safaricom Business forums, designed to support SMEs with insights on digitization, market access, branding, and digital marketing.

The highlight of the coastal tour is the grand M-PESA Sokoni Festival set for Saturday, June 7, at Mombasa Sports Club Grounds.

Visitors can expect live performances, cultural showcases, and exclusive access to discounted products and services.

For those unable to attend in person, all offers will be made available online via Safaricom’s e-commerce platform, Masoko.com.

Running for two months, the campaign is part of the broader M-PESA at 18 celebrations, recognizing the platform’s pioneering role in transforming Kenya’s digital and financial ecosystem.

Visitors to the festival and online shoppers will also get to learn about and explore a range of innovative Safaricom products and services, including Ziidi MMF, Taasi Till and Pochi, Fuliza ya Biashara, Pochi la Biashara, Lipa na M-PESA, Safaricom Hook, and the premium lifestyle brand, Safaricom Emerald.
