The Nairobi National Park in the capital has recently become overcrowded, leaving visitors disgruntled with long lines at admission gates on weekends.
Rebecca Miano, cabinet secretary of the ministry of tourism and wildlife, apologised and encouraged citizens to take advantage of e-ticketing systems.
“We invite you to purchase your tickets in advance via the e-Citizen platform at kws.ecitizen.go.ke for a smoother entry,” she stated.
“We’re thrilled to see so many of you embracing our prepaid ticketing system-over 60 percent of visitors on Sunday used this convenient option. This is a step forward in our shared journey toward smarter, faster, and more enjoyable park access.”
Miano said the increase in visitor numbers reflected Kenya’s expanding appeal as a top tourism and conference destination, which was fuelled by ongoing international meetings in Nairobi and successful marketing initiatives.
“We are committed to making your future visits seamless, enjoyable, and memorable,” she said.
Tourism is an important sector in the East African country.
In 2024, Kenya’s tourism sector witnessed substantial expansion, with international arrivals setting a new record of 2.4 million, a 15% rise over the previous year.
