Telecommunications giant Safaricom is showing strong support for Kenya’s Paralympic athletes as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games by committing Ksh 10 million towards the team’s participation in the international event scheduled from August 28 to September 8 in Paris.
At a vibrant ceremony held at the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club, Safaricom’s Business and Development Officer, Michael Mutiga, presented a cheque of Ksh 10 million to Bhaveet Chudasama, Vice President of the Kenya National Paralympic Committee (KNPC).
The donation includes Ksh 5 million in cash and another Ksh 5 million worth of in-kind support.
The company’s involvement extends beyond financial backing.
Safaricom has also provided the athletes with financial literacy and media training, ensuring they are well-prepared both on and off the field.
The athletes received airtime for data and connectivity to help them stay connected during their journey.
Safaricom Director of Customer Obsession Lucille Aveva along with Mutiga and Cynthia Kropac, Chief Enterprise Business Officer accentuated their commitment to supporting Kenyan athletes.
“We are thrilled to support the Kenya Paralympics Team as they embark on their journey. Our commitment to sports in Kenya goes beyond financial contributions. We aim to empower athletes with the skills and resources they need to excel,” Mutiga noted.
