Kidnappers Shot Dead, Church Reverend Found Alive

Police in Kiambu County have shot dead two suspected kidnappers who had kidnapped and robed an Anglican Church Reverend.

Two of the other kidnappers have however escaped with bullet wounds.

Reverend John Chege says that he was accosted by four criminals while entering his home on Thursday 20th May at around 7PM.

Chege says they then pulled out two pistols then pushed him at the back seat of his car and started driving.

They demanded that I give them money or my family gives them a ransom of Ksh. 50,000.

“I only had Ksh. 1,000 with me. Ksh 500 in my Mpesa and Ksh. 500 cash. So they asked me to give them my phone and start asking for money from my followers,” narrated Chege.

Chege says they then took him round in the vehicle and started transferring the cash in my phone.

“At some point they stopped and started taking alcohol and bhang. They then offered me some but I refused,” he stated.

Chege stated that his followers however became suspicious with his act of asking for money and then alerted the police.

Kiambu County Commander Ali Nuno says that upon receiving information about the reverend, they swung into action.

“At around 7pm a reverend by the name John Chege was accosted by armed gangsters, they were armed with two pistols. We got information that bishop was hijacked and these criminals were asking rfor a ransom of Ksh. 50,000,” said Nuno.

Nuno says that they pursued the criminals all the way from King’eero, and fatally injured two people.

 “They were intercepted by my officers here in Jacaranda. Two others however escaped with bullet,” said Nuno.

A Pistol, two rounds of ammunition and the reverend’s were vehicle recovered.
