After thrashing his own record to become the first man on earth to run the 42 kilometre marathon race in under two hours, Eliud Kipchoge is now requesting the former U.S President Barack Obama for a meeting. Obama became the first African-American to break the barriers to become the first black president of the most powerful country on earth, United States of America.
In a tweet on Monday, Obama congratulated both Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgey for their exemplary performance as examples of humanity with endurance capability. Kipchoge finished in 1:59:40 on saturday in Vienna, Austria while Kosgey set new world records by finishing Chicago Marathon in 2:14:04.Brigid broke a world record that had stood for 16 years, held by British athlete Paula Radcliffe.
In reaction to Obama’s tweet, the marathon’s greatest of all times asked to meet Obama who has his roots in Kenya. Kipchoge also appreciated Obama for recognition and inspiration. His slogan ‘Yes we can’ gave hope and inspiration across the globe.
