Kisumu Residents Loot Police Armory

As fears of possible social unrest amid the coronavirus crisis rise, Kisumu police are in the lookout for a group of goons who broke into Kibos Police armory and made away with three riffles and several rounds of ammunition.

Police say the robbers struck at 11:30 pm on Sunday and broke into the armory before escaping with the firearms through a neighboring sugar plantation.

An officer who is suspected to have aided the raid was supposed to be manning the post but left his duty station leaving the steel door to the highly secured armory wide open at conveniently the same time the gang broke into the armory.

The officer who is assisting with investigations reported that he briefly went to his house and upon return found the armory had broken into.

A G3 rifle; an Mp5 rifle and an L1A1 rifle were stolen alongside two G3 magazines, two MP5 magazines and another 155 rounds of ammunition.

Efforts to comb the sugar plantation in search of the suspects and weapons did not bear fruit.

As the Coronavirus pandemic deepens, and with police brutality now the top news, Kenyans are bound to look for some self-protection.

Sales of guns and ammunition have also skyrocketed across the US as people prepare for the worst during this pandemic that is threatening to tear everyone apart.
