Nyamlori market traders in Kisumu on Thursday morning stormed the city hall which hosts Governor Anyang Nyong’o’s office following demolitions.
The traders accessed the offices using the back gate and demanded answers from the city manager Abala Wanga about why the market’s gate and toilet were demolished.
They said they still have an active court order which is set to be heard in May on issues of being relocated to Uhuru Business Market without proper consultation and public participation.
“Abala Wanga should come out and tell us why the demolitions have happened, what was his intention,” they said.
The traders later left the venue after a police officer arrived.
Deputy county commissioner Hussein Alaso Hussein urged them to report the matter to the police for investigations to be done on what really happened.
