Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki recent statement on Facebook over Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) that was burned after the famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has sparked mixed reactions from Kenyans.

The High Court of Kenya in there ruling declared that the BBI process was unconstitutional after it emerges that the Parliament is trying to pass some of the BBI proposals through parliamentary amendment, prompting the BBI proponents to device new strategy in case the court of appeal fails to reverse the ruling by the High Court.

Tharaka-Nithi Senator, however, had a different point of view that even if the BBI bill goes through the parliament way, the Court will still not allow such amendments in the Constitution to take place.

” Proposals by a section of the National Assembly & the Senate to try and resuscitate some of the BBI proposals will not succeed, going by the aspects that are intended for rescue. Get it: Amendment of certain entrenched & foundational doctrines & clauses of the Constitution must start and end with the people,” reads part of Kithure’s Post.

“Just like the recently failed “Executive Initiative” that was found to be alien to our law, the Court will, without doubt, declare the current attempt to tamper with entrenched provisions,” further reads Kithure’s post on Facebook.

This has, however, sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans with some supporting the senator and others claiming that BBI must be implemented at all cost.
