Kogelo man arrested for hacking wife to death

Police in Siaya have arrested a 39 old man who allegedly hacked his wife to death in Acheo village, Kogelo, Siaya County.
The suspect was being held at Siaya police station, is said to have killed his wife Lucy Awuor, 36, after a domestic brawl.
Neighbours told the police that the two had a fight in the dead of the nights when the suspect cut the victim with a machete on the head, stomach the hid her body in the house on Thursday night. They also the police that couple regularly fought.
Another neighbour also told the police that the suspect did not allow the kid to access the house after the incident.
Police Commander Justus Kucha told the media that the suspect in his statement claimed that his wife returned home late and drunk. The suspect also accused his wife of infidelity.
“The body had deep cuts in the head and abdomen. The couple had been involved in a domestic scuffle in the night of January 1st and 2. We are still doing investigations on the matter” Kucha said.
The body of the victim has been moved to Siaya County Mortuary, awaiting post-mortem.
