KWS pilot dies in deadly aircraft crash at Kenya Aviation Training School

A pilot lost his life on Thursday, November 19 after a chopper crashed and burst into flames in Isinya, Kajiado County.

The gyrocopter crashed at Kenya Aviation Training School with reports indicating the pilot was from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

A Kenya Civil Aviation Authority representative confirmed the incident saying it occurred on Thursday morning.

“We have the reports on the crash but we are not in a position to reveal the details of the accident,” said the representative.

According to witnesses, the crash happened during a routine training exercise with the chopper bursting into flames immediately it hit the ground.

The number of occupants in the gyrocopter is not clear with conflicting information indicating that the pilot was in the company of another man while others claim the pilot was alone.

Investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the crash.
