Late Billionaire Njenga Karume’s daughter to be buried in Israel today

Daughter of the late tycoon and powerful minister Njenga Karume will be laid to rest in Israel today.
Jane Wahito succumbed to cancer of the bile duct in Israel last Wednesday. According to an advertisement in the obituary pages in the local dailies, she will be laid to rest at Bahan Kibbutz.
A family member who requested to anonymous revealed that the deceased had requested immediate family members to bury her in Israel before her demise.
The event to celebrate her life will held in Nairobi on a later date.
Jane preferred to be buried in a foreign country to avoid the scenario like that which happened to her niece who died begging for treatment money in the United States two months ago.
Michelle Karume, a granddaughter of the late Karume died in America in September after writing a painful appeal for funds to treat cancer.
These come against the backdrop of stormy inheritance battles of Karume’s wealth in Kenyan courts.
Michelle had interrupted lawyers during one court session and pleaded with presiding judges that she dying of cancer and could not afford the treatment expenses.
Michelle was among the grandchildren listed in Karume’s will as beneficiaries of his vast estate estimated to be worth over sh 17 billion. Karume’s wealth was estimated to be worth over sh.100 billion.
According the relative, Jane’s burial expenses in Israel will cost about sh. 700, 000. Her two sons, daughter, sister, niece and nephew are the only close family members likely to attend her burial.
The relative added that the family was not aware that she was battling stage four cancer till late last month. Jane was avoiding a scenario where she would look like she was begging for funds from her late father’s estate.
Some family members claim that the decision to bury Jane in Israel was due to difficulties in ferrying the body home but delays by trustees to release the funds.
The burial site is a settlement with close proximity to the hospital where Jane was receiving treatment. Her friends from Loreto convent and Loreto Limuru have participated greatly in the burial preparations.
Karume’s children have been embroiled in controversial battles to oust the trustees their father had appointed to manage his estate.
