A Nairobi-based advocate was arrested on Thursday after attempting to bribe a senior police officer at Karani Police Station to secure the release of five suspects.
According to police, the lawyer; Antony Kirunyu Karoki, presented himself to the Kasarani Subcounty Criminal Investigation Officer (SCIO) and offered Ksh.900,000 in cash to secure the unconditional release of the five suspects who were in custody over electronic fraud.
The detective raised an alarm and immediately got the lawyer arrested.
“He has been arrested, money documented by scenes of crime personnel, and kept as exhibit,” reads a police report on the incident.
The advocate is set to be arraigned for several offenses under the Bribery Act No 47 of 2016 and penal code
