The event took place at Gisambai Primary School.

Services offered ranged from women’s wellness consultations, breast cancer screening, prenatal and antenatal care, to child health assessments.

Other areas of care covered were dental checks, eye exams, and general consultations.

The Foundation provided 100 Mama Packs to new and expectant mothers at Vihiga County Referral Hospital as part of its maternal health initiatives.

Karen Basiye, Executive Director at M-PESA Foundation, noted that this marked the 39th medical camp under their ongoing programme launched in 2023.

So far, the Foundation has reached communities in 35 counties.

Through collaboration with local health authorities and the use of mobile communication tools, the Foundation continues to support follow-up consultations post-treatment via SMS and WhatsApp for up to six months.

A maternity facility valued at Ksh 60 million is also under development at Vihiga County Referral Hospital to strengthen care for mothers and newborns across the region.

In the education sector, the Foundation has supported schools in the area, recently completing facility upgrades at Gamoi Primary School and starting construction on new infrastructure at Chekomebero Special School.
