Residents of Kirungu village in Kamacharia Mathioya, Murang’a county, are reeling in shock after a man stabbed his wife to death on the night of Saturday, November 12, 2022.
Peter Muturi, who is said to be mentally unstable is said to have stabbed his wife several times before hitting her on the head using a blunt object.
According to Mathioya OCPD Pauline Mwangi, the suspect aged 60 kept the body in the house until Sunday morning when he went to a local church looking for his brother and told him what he had done.
He later tried to stab himself but was rescued and taken to Kiriaini mission hospital where he is currently receiving treatment under the watch of police officers.
“We have launched an investigation into the matter to establish the circumstances under which the murder was committed,” Mwangi said.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary.
Elsewhere, police officers in Machakos have intensified investigations into the death of a man whose body was found lying along the Nairobi – Garissa highway on Sunday, November 13.
In a police report, the police ruled out a possible accident as the cause of the death of the man identified as Joseph Kyalo Nzui.
According to the authorities, the Sunday incident was murder disguised as a road accident.
The incident had earlier been reported at Kithyoko Police station in Masinga sub-county as a hit-and-run accident.
“It was reported by area assistant chief Mr. Daniel Nzomo Muthoka that there was hit and run accident along Matuu – Kithyoko road about 10 kilometres South West of the station,” a police report read in part.
Police officers from the station visited the scene and found a lifeless body of a young man lying down covered with a cloth.
Present were traffic personnel who later established that the incident was not an accident but murder, police said.
According to the police officers, the body of the 42-year-old man had deep sharp cuts on the head and the stomach. Some parts were also missing.
“Also, his private parts were severed off,” an officer said.
