Man admitted in Hospital after a fight over Land
A man is admitted to the Elburgon Sub-County hospital in Nakuru county after he was attacked by another man whom he found cultivating his piece of land.
Joseph Kebenei, 60, had driven to his farm at Mawe Mbili in Mau to check on it when he found a man identified as Charles Cheregony, 61 tilling it.
When he sought to establish from Cheregony why he was cultivating his piece of land, Cheregony descended on him armed with a jembe while screaming.
This attracted other villagers who left their grazing livestock unattended and joined in the attack, seriously injuring the victim. They then gathered a heap of dry maize stalks on the man’s vehicle, a white Toyota probox and senselessly set it ablaze.
In the ensuing melee, a Good Samaritan grabbed Kebenei from the crowd and rushed him to Elburgon Police station where he filed his report before being rushed to hospital.
Officers based at Elburgon police station who had since been joined by their Molo counterparts, visited the scene of the incident only to find a shell of what was once Kebenei’s Toyota probox. The suspect was immediately arrested and placed in custody, awaiting to be arraigned in court to answer to his crimes.
Meanwhile, in Solai Nakuru county, a man who was high on a substance believed to be marijuana was placed in custody, after he attacked a police officer with a projectile, dislocating his left shoulder. Police constable Eliud Misiko, was walking back to the station after having lunch in his house when he was hit by a rock that sent him on the ground in pain.
The officer raised alarm leading to the arrest of the suspect Dennis Kibet, who appeared not bothered at all by his actions. Kibet, explained that he wanted to have a feeling of what hurling stones at a police station felt like.
Immediately after those remarks, one of the officers who had arrested him concluded the conversation by saying “hii ni bangi,” these are the effects of cannabis.
The suspect was arrested and upon conducting a body search, 10 rolls of bhang carefully concealed close to his privates were recovered.
He is currently a guest of the state facing two charges of assaulting a police officer and being in possession of narcotics.
