A man was on Monday charged with forging a permit for burial of another man who is still a live claiming to be his nephew who had died.
Solomon Kithuka Chalo is alleged that on October 5 2020 at unknown place within the country, with others not before court with intent to defraud forged a permit for burial issued by the chief Kathiani location in Machakos County.
Chalo was charged with another count that on or before October 8, 2020 at unknown place, with intent to defraud forged a jubilee insurance certificate of the attending Physician under the names of Mutisya Musyoka.
He purported it to be a genuine document signed by Dr R. Kariuki of Kathiani mission hospital in Machakos County.
The court was also heard that on November 30, 2020 at jubilee house along Wabera Street in Nairobi by means of fraudulent tricks induced jubilee life insurance limited to pay a sum Sh 230,000 to him by falsely pretending that his nephew namely Mutisya Musyoka holder of family shield cover had died.
According to a statement filed by Musyoka with the police, he claims he has no blood relationship with the accused person and that he was introduced to him by his young brother when he was claiming his late father’s money from Lampasago sacco.
Musyoka told police he handed over his personal documents to the accused to help him process the Sacco money.
Musyoka added that he has never taken any insurance cover for himself nor has he been informed by anyone that he has insurance of any category.
The accused denied the charges before Milimani chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and pladed for lenient bond terms.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh300, 000. The case will be mentioned on May 27.
