An unidentifed man has shared a sad story about his uncle who died while waiting for treatment at the Wajir General Hospital, a referral Hospital for the county.
” My 88 year old Uncle Hemoglobin was 5.4. He was probably having Gastrointestinal bleed. He was a patient at the Wajir general Hospital the last few days. Last night he was dying of Severe Anaemia and there were more than 25 family volunteers for blood donation last night. They were all turned back, apparently because they don’t do blood donations & tests at night. They were asked to come back during the day. He didn’t make it through the night. He passed on last night waiting for “tomorrow. I have never cried this hard in my life. We have a problem comrades. This is absolutely unacceptable & something must change urgently. ” – MYM
This calls for looking into the training of nurses at the hospital and its management.
Wajir County has been named as one of the most corrupt counties in Kenya according to the EACC.
“For the third successive year, Wajir has been named the most corrupt county, with 71.7 per cent of service seekers reporting being asked for a bribe”, EACC said in 2019.
A few weeks ago, a blog exposed the dire situation in Wajir County.
All these happens while the governor continues to loot massive amounts of public funds.
